of the Sedgefield Locals Facebook group gathered in silent protest against alleged animal abuse in front of a Sedgefield house, at 10:00 on Saturday, March 14.
Kirsty Hofhuis, a group member, had alerted others of reports to her that the occupant of the home had allegedly beaten his young pitbull for ten minutes before tying up the dog.
One of the protestors entered the property. The young pitbull was happy to see her and when she stuck her hand through the relatively spacious cage the dog licked her hand and chewed her fingers.
The dog had no physical signs of a beating but had no water or food in his cage.
When the protestor picked up the hosepipe to give the dog water, the fearful animal immediately cowered in the corner of his cage.
