The 18-year-old accused, Lulama Candani, briefly appeared in the local magistrate’s court on Thursday, April 16 after failing to show up in court on Monday due to transport issues between the Mossel Bay Correctional Centre where he is being held and Plettenberg Bay.
The matter was however postponed until May 14 and Candani was ordered 30 days of psychiatric evaluation at the Valkenberg Hospital in Cape Town.
The Bossiegif resident is accused of murdering little Sesona Bhayibhile. He allegedly slit her throat and hid her body in dense bushes just a few metres from her home.
Sesona went missing on Sunday, December 7 after playing with friends near Candani’s home.
