KNYSNA NEWS - Kay-Lee McCarthy and Ru-Charn Samuels, both from Sunridge Primary in Hornlee, have outdone themselves in their respective sports this year.
The two players made us as a school and a community very proud to call them our own.
Kay-Lee is part of the U12 team that will represent the Western Cape at the prestigious SASN All Ages/Rhino Netball Tournament in Boksburg, Gauteng from 16 to 20 June.
She also went on a training camp to Moorreesburg the past weekend. Kay-Lee is passionate about her netball and spends many hours training. One can easily be fooled by her easy and infectious smile. Behind it is a skilled team player but also a vigorous opponent who stops at nothing to get to the ball.
Ru-Charn will represent SWD as part of the U13 Academy XV Squad. They will compete at the annual U13 XV Squad Rugby Tournament in Uitenhage from 16 to 19 June. Ru-Charn also attends rugby training camps around the Southern Cape every weekend. He is not a boy of many words hence his team players call him "Silence". He prefers to show on the field what he's made of.
Both these young players have exceptional skills and we wish them all the best for their future.
