KNYSNA NEWS - Greater Knysna mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies comments on the latest water usage statistics for Knysna:
"Our two off-channel dams, namely the Akkerkloof and Glebe dams receive their water from our rivers.
"Currently the Western Cape, especially the Southern Cape, has experienced below normal rainfall. Because of this not enough water can be pumped into our dams to provide enough water security for our Greater Knysna.
"The Akkerkloof Dam is currently 33% full, leaving us with 24 days of water at the current consumption which is 11.56 ML/day.
"Glebe Dam, which feeds the Akkerkloof Dam is currently 10% full.
"Residents need to be aware of how vulnerable our water resources are, and must take active measures to reduce their water consumption."
