Update
KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - The reallocation of cases within the Department of Health's database has seen a slight shift in the Covid-19 figures in Knysna and Bitou, with both sub-districts showing fewer total cases than last week due to the reallocations.
Registrations to receive the Covid-19 in the Western Cape continue to grow past the three-million mark. As at Tuesday 12 July the Western Cape has seen 3 033 962 registrations for the Covid-19 vaccine, 54,06% of the eligible population.
In the Garden Route a total of 264 448 people have registered for the vaccine, 53,42% of the eligible population.
In Knysna there has been a total of 37 358 vaccine registrations, which is 65,07% of the eligible population. Bitou has seen a total of 23 303 vaccine registrations, 54,84% of the eligible population.
As at Tuesday 5 July, Knysna had recorded a total of 10 141 cases of Covid-19, of which
9 843 have recovered, 293 have died, and five are active cases. We are unable to measure how many new cases were recorded this week due to the reallocations.
We can however see that the active cases increased this week, rising by 25% (+1) - the first increase in Knysna after seven consecutive decreases. The recovery rate has dropped slightly, down to 97,06% (97,07% last week). The deaths have remained the same for the sixth week in a row.
In Bitou as at Tuesday,
5 987 Covid-19 cases had been recorded, with 5 840 having recovered, 143 having died, and four being active cases. As with Knysna, we are unable to measure how many new cases were recorded this week due to the reallocations.
The active cases have fallen by 50% (-4) this week - the eighth consecutive drop in active cases.
The recovery rate increased and is now 97,54% (97,48% last week), and the mortality rate is 2,4%.
The deaths have not increased for the 18th week in a row - the longest such streak seen in either Bitou or Knysna during the pandemic.
