BUSINESS NEWS - Oakhill College has signaled a formidable start to the winter sports season following a triumphant March holiday period by fielding 14 different teams across various national tournaments, Oakhill didn't just compete - it distinguished itself with excellence.
From the courts and astro-turfs of George, to East London and Cape Town, Oakhill's presence was a testament to the school's rapid growth and commitment to holistic development.
A new season of development and success
The netball season launched with a rewarding tour to Reddam Constantia, where the U13A team secured four wins out of six matches.This pre-season experience proved invaluable for building on-court combinations and fostering a deep sense of unity and team spirit.
This momentum continued at the Mega Festival in George, where the UlS and 1st Netball teams both powered through to semi-final berths, finishing a commendable fourth overall.
Hockey remains a cornerstone of Oakhill's prowess. In East London, the U14A Boys remained unbeaten at the Rob Taylor Festival, highlighted by a masterclass performance against hosts Selbome College.
Meanwhile, the 1st Boys and Girls teams debuted at the Belgotex Sport Hockey Tournament in Cape Town - a massive event featuring 128 teams. The Oakhill 1st Boys surged to the Plate final, narrowly losing 3-2 in a thrilling game to finish a staggering 18th out of 64 teams.
The developmental pipeline is equally promising. The U13 boys and girls hockey teams stepped up to the U14 MEGA Sports Festival, testing their mettle against high school opposition and adapting to a new four-chukka format.
These young athletes displayed an incredible work rate, laying a vital foundation for the next generation of Oakhill stars.
Kim RansomReflecting this culture of excellent performance is the outstanding individual achievement of Oakhill Prep student Zoran Meyer, who solidified his status as South Africa's premier junior tennis talent this holiday.
Zoran claimed both the singles and doubles titles at the SA Junior Nationals and currently holds the number one tennis ranking in the country for the U12 age group.
"Zoran's national success is a testament to his relentless work ethic and discipline", noted Head of Prep Sport, Kim Ransom. She added that she is "excited about the prospects and sporting future for all our students across disciplines as they transition into Oakhill College."
Head of College Sport, Alastair Trafford, echoed this sentiment: "The performances across all codes marked an excellent start to the winter season. Our players represented Oakhill with pride, building the confidence needed for an excellent season ahead."
Fueling growth through holistic excellence
The secret behind Oakhill's trajectory lies in its philosophy of whole-child development. This vision is supported by the 17-hectare Oakhill Sports Campus, a spectacular facility featuring a water-based astroturf, netball and tennis courts, and newly enhanced facilities including bathrooms, showers, team strategic room and tuckshop.
The sports campus provides the perfect stage for the school's committed and professional coaches to drive player growth.

A festival of competition and community
The holiday season reached a crescendo as Oakhill hosted the annual Oakhill Co-Ed Hockey Festivals, over three weekends in April, which expanded this year to include the Netball Festival.
Knysna became a hub of school sport, welcoming 1,200 participants playing close to 240 matches over the festivals. This success was also a huge benefit for the town, bolstering local tourism and strengthening ties with local businesses.
As the second term begins, Oakhill School is not just growing - it is thriving.
