KNYSNA NEWS - At the end of another year in a very challenging and changing world, we have much to be proud of and thankful for at our Knysna Montessori School.
In its 15th year of Montessori matriculants, our headboy, Zinedine de Nil, achieved not only academic excellence in obtaining above 80% in every one of his chosen subjects, but also won the book prize for achievement in English, an English Olympiad Certificate and received the dux, the highest award a school can bestow on a student for overall academic excellence.
Zinedine attended Knysna Montessori from Junior School through Middle and then High School, and was chosen as headboy 2022 at the end of last year, not only for his academic abilities, but for his achievements in the social skills he learned alongside his peers from the beginning of his Montessori schooling.
Children between six and 12 years reach a pinnacle of mental ability and have achieved the power of abstract thinking.
They are able to use logic and reason, find information through research and make knowledgeable assumptions.
Most importantly, they carry on growing through the 12- to 15-year stage of strong social interaction, desiring to understand why humans act and react as they do, and discovering ways of coping with societal problems.
A passionate Zinedine de Nil in junior school.
Grateful children received Santa Shoeboxes from Knysna Montessori's Interact club.
