“Knowing where your food comes from is the best way of knowing that it is wholesome and safe,” says Phil Muller, who has a Stellenbosch University degree in agriculture. He has been farming with his father for the past 22 years at Milkwood Farm in the Geelhoutboom district outside George.
"In 1984, we relocated from Kokstad, KZN to George with our much-loved herd of cattle," says Phil. "Being conservation conscious, we’re passionate about biological and sustainable farming systems. We strive to work with nature and not against it. In the past 15 years, we’ve had access to minimum tillage seed drills to plant, so we’ve completely stopped discing to improve our soils, while at the same time balancing soil minerals and feeding soil life."

Passion for the best
An earnest desire to produce a pure yoghurt that is nutritious for her two young daughters, Emily and Grace, is what drove Tarryn Hampson to produce her first batches of yoghurt. Tarryn has a passion for healthy food and combines her biochemistry degree with her culinary talents to produce the most wholesome range of dairy products.
She lives in George with her husband Garry and their daughters, from where she manages the yoghurt-making process in a small artisanal factory.
