KNYSNA NEWS - With every graduate that comes through our Further Education and Training (FET) college, we become increasingly hopeful for the future of ECD (Early Childhood Development).
We know that quality education starts with quality teachers and principals. Our FET training centre aligns with KET's (Knysna Education Trust) mission to ensure that no child is left behind.
What better way to do this than by equipping members of our community with the skills and education to create an inspiring learning environment, where children's needs are seen and met?
Many of our learners already work within the ECD sector, completing qualifications with us so that they are better qualified to do their jobs and grow their preschools. Our graduates have shown great strength and resilience throughout their studies. In normal circumstances, working and studying can be challenging.
Despite the added pressure of the pandemic, this group of women have allowed their passion to shine through. We can truly say that we are proud of their ambition and determination to work with children and change ECD for the better.
This year, 26 graduates celebrated their achievement at our annual graduation ceremony. At the event, accomplished learners received either their Basic Childcare, Preschool Teacher or Preschool Management Higher Certificates. There were also special awards given to recognise ECD facilities within the community who performed with excellence this year.
A special thanks goes to Rotary Club Northampton, who have sponsored four of our graduates. Two of these learners, Ingrid and Yolandi, have completed their time with us and will be entering next year as qualified, better equipped caregivers.
The other two learners, René and Jenelle, will continue their studies with us next year, completing their qualifications. We are privileged to be working with an NPO such as this, whose vision to uplift people and help them to grow into successful members of the community aligns with ours.
Lastly, thank you to our facilitators and coordinators at KET. Your dedication to excellence in the ECD sector is evident. With each brilliant professional that is sent out into the working world, we are helping to change the lives of hundreds of children for the better.
It has been wonderful to see our team operate in the new training centre, with more space and better facilities. As we enter 2022, we look forward to welcoming new faces and continuing to inspire change in ECD.
If you or your business are interested in donating towards some of our students' studies, or perhaps creating a bursary of your own, please contact us on 044 382 4638. Working together, we can enable quality educators in ECD and ensure that no child is left behind.
