PLETTENBERG BAY BUSINESS NEWS - Hendrik Booysen completed his AS levels at Greenwood Bay College in June 2018. He received four A’s out of four subjects – Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and IT.
One of the measures of success of any college is the achievement of its pupils in internationally recognised examinations.
Hendrik has received two prestigious Cambridge examination awards: one being the top student in South Africa in four subjects, and the other being the top student in South Africa for Information Technology.
He then completed his A Levels in November 2018, where he did three subjects and received an A for Mathematics, an A for Physics and a B for Further Mathematics.
We are indeed proud of Hendrik and of the teachers who assisted him in achieving these outstanding results. While at GBC he was also an avid sportsman and played hockey and soccer, and competed in athletics at SWD level. He was a wonderful student, and always friendly and exemplary in his behaviour.
Hendrik is currently studying mechanical and aeronautical engineering at the University of Pretoria (Tuks). He was also accepted into the University of Edinburgh, Bristol and Exeter, among other international academic institutions, but plans on completing his degree in South Africa and then going on to do his Master’s degree overseas.
Hendrik is still involved in extracurricular activities and societies at Tuks, such as playing soccer and he is also currently preparing for an athletics event.
He is also involved in a programme called Tuks Baja, which covers the basics of engineering, offering courses in welding, metalwork and working with heavy machinery. They are currently building motor vehicle parts from scratch.
We are so proud of all Hendrik’s achievements and wish him well in all future endeavours.

Teachers focus on each individual in class and we really get what we pay for in terms of education and facilities. The Cambridge curriculum opens doors for overseas studies and opportunities. I love the mountain biking, and do compete in the competitions.
Eloise Young.

I love the relaxed environment, the Cambridge level of learning, and the superior qualification it gives you at end of your school career. I also think that GBC/Cambridge maths is much more advanced in comparison to other schools.
Georgia Garnett.
Georgia Garnett (Grade 10): Previous school: Plettenberg Bay Primary
We have really good relationships with our teachers in the high school. They really take the time to make sure we understand our work and all our questions get answered. Cambridge sets GBC apart from other schools. Sport has grown well over the last two years, and we have nice new facilities. Our sports tours are awesome too.

I love everything about GBC, the classes, campus, sports and friends. My favourite is the soccer and I can’t wait to go on tour next year.
