PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - There is nothing crazy about Plettenberg Bay’s MAD Festival, which is set to offer those with a love for the finer things in life something to enjoy.
Organisers announced this week that the second Plett Music, Arts and Drama (MAD) Festival will be held from June 25 to July 18 and will run concurrently with the popular Knysna Oyster Festival and National Arts Festival in an attempt increase visitors looking for a Garden Route experience.
A decision was made to turn the festival into an annual event after last year’s success, which included top-notch events such as the Plett Fringe Theatre, the Plett Food Film Festival and Vernissage as well as entertainment provided by the Tshisa and Lunchbox Theatre groups. Venues across town were also bustling with visual arts, installations, craft, street markets, food and music and the programme involved members of all communities, the business, education and tourism sectors.
“We are excited to announce an amazing line-up of acts in Plett, ensuring this year’s event will shed a bright spotlight on the many talented artists in our region,” festival director Cindy Wilson-Trollip said.
“We plan to showcase international films partnered with a selection of exquisite foods prepared by some of Plett’s world-class chefs and award-winning local wines during the Plett Food Film Festival. The Plett Food Film Festival is the only one of its kind – pairing internationally recognised films about food and wine with local delights and delicacies to be sipped and savoured.”
