KNYSNA NEWS - On Thursday 28 March, the Knysna Arts Society presented a mesmerising exhibition by artist Hanelie Taute at the Knysna Fine Art Gallery.
With a longstanding relationship spanning 21 years, Taute and Knysna Fine Art have collaborated once again to bring art lovers an extraordinary visual experience.
The exhibition was unlike any other. With guests donning fun masks and partaking in a photobooth, the evening was immersive and interactive, serving as the ideal backdrop for Taute's unique works.
The exhibition, titled 'Inner Sanctum', offers a vivid exploration of Taute's passion for storytelling and her unique blend of surrealist themes. Through use of mixed media, including paints, yarn stitching, and even old photographs, she creates a blend of colour and imagination.
The enduring partnership between Taute and Knysna Fine Art speaks volumes about their artistic synergy and shared vision.
Each collaboration has brought forth remarkable exhibitions that captivate the senses and leave a lasting impression. This latest exhibition continues the tradition of excellence and showcases Taute's evolution as an artist.
"Inner Sanctum" invites viewers to delve into the depths of Taute's creative psyche, giving a glimpse into her fascination with storytelling and her ability to seamlessly blend surrealist elements into her work.
One of the most remarkable aspects is her disciplined approach to bending and blending different mediums. Each artwork on display at the exhibition tells its own story, inviting viewers to engage with the intricate details and symbolism of each piece, which Hanelie draws from her own life and personal experiences.
"Inner Sanctum'' is not merely an exhibition; it invites viewers into her inner sanctum and encourages them to explore their own depths and embrace the limitless possibilities of imagination.
"My first exhibition was at this gallery, because Trent Reed believed in me from the start. That's why I felt this is the perfect commemoration of our partnership," says Taute on her relationship with the gallery.
"The inspiration comes from an exciting blend of mediums. I get gifted old photographs, sometimes from my family, and then I start playing around with that as a medium. The masks symbolise a blending of tribal and traditional elements to show how powerful masks are as a medium and also for individual identity."
