KNYSNA NEWS - The U11 rugby team of Knysna Primary School (KPS) is raring and ready to go ahead of the upcoming Aloe Cup, which is dedicated to U11 rugby teams and hosted by Jeffreys Bay Primary School.
The tournament takes place from 23 to 25 June and 12 schools take part.
The schools are divided into two divisions - a shield and a cup division - of which KPS is allocated to the shield division.
There, they are divided further into two pools of three teams each. Teams play two pool games on the first day, which determine how they will progress in the tournament over the following two days.
KPS' 2022 Aloe Cup journey starts with a hard game against the hosts, Jeffreys Bay Primary, in the opening game of the tournament on Thursday morning. Thereafter they take on Stellenbosch Primary to establish who they'll play against and when in the knockout games on Thursday.
This is the fifth year that KPS will be taking part in the Aloe Cup, having never missed a single edition of the tournament.
Their best result yet was in 2018 when they finished as the runners-up in the shield division, and they will be hoping to one-up this feat this year.
The team made their way to Jeffreys Bay yesterday, Wednesday 22 June, to prepare for the tournament.
U11 coaches and players sport the special new sponsored kit they received for the Aloe Cup. Back: Malan van Jaarsveldt, Tiaan Terblanche and Mark Share. Front: Nicolas Oosthuizen, Louw Bouwer and Jordan Huisamen.
