RUGBY NEWS - The Blitzboks returned to the top of the HSBC World Series standings with their performance in making the final of the Sydney Sevens, but were blown away by the hosts in the tournament's main game.
Australia's men's team made it a double after the women's triumph earlier in the day with a blistering performance to down the Blitzboks 29-0 in the final, and give the defending world champions no chance to defend the title they won in Sydney a year ago.
It broke a drought for the Aussie men's side that stretches back to 2012 in Tokyo where they last won a tournament and they certainly shut out the Blitzboks with a stylish and powerful performance.
The Blitzboks did return to the top of the series standings though, as both New Zealand and Fiji were knocked out in the quarterfinals. The South Africans now lead the Kiwis by four points going into this week's Hamilton Sevens.
