RUGBY NEWS - Four young rugby stars from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay have been selected to form a part of the SWD U21 squad that will kick off its SA Rugby U21 Shield campaign this week.
The squad was named by SWD Rugby last week, and is made up of 36 of the brightest young rugby talents in the South Western Districts region.
They will be representing their union in this year's SA Rugby U21 Shield, which will run from 11 August until 14 October.
SWD is one of the four southern unions taking part in the competition alongside the likes of Boland, Border and Eastern Province.
These sides will battle it out with the top two advancing to the semi-final stage where they will face the two northern teams that could be Griquas, Valke, Griffons or Limpopo Blue Bulls.
The SWD U21 side has been hard at work since they were selected, training two to three times a week at Outeniqua Park.
The four young men from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay who've been selected for the squad are Gift Ngxwashula (who plays for Jaguars), Joseph Vermaak, Len Mells and Emile Goedhals (all of who play for Bitou Warriors).
SWD's first match will be this Friday when they take on Eastern Province at Outeniqua Park at 15:00.
