BUSINESS NEWS - The inaugural Waterside Wine Weekend, held last month, brought together wine lovers, local businesses, and the community for two days of wine tasting, networking and social connection in support of four worthy local causes.
Organised by Ilse van Staden, with Pam Golding Properties Knysna as the main sponsor, the event welcomed 27 wine farms and celebrated the region's love of wine, lifestyle and community spirit.
Despite challenging weather conditions and the last-minute decision to move the event indoors, the weekend was a resounding success.
The enthusiasm and support of the participating wine farms, organisers, sponsors and guests ensured that the occasion delivered on its purpose: bringing people together while making a meaningful difference in our community.
The two-day programme offered a variety of experiences, with opportunities to discover exceptional wines, connect with fellow wine enthusiasts and enjoy the relaxed social atmosphere.
The festivities also included a bread and wine tasting on the opening evening, hosted at The Bread School, a new venture by renowned baker Markus Farbinger.
Adding a fun twist to the weekend, Sirroco hosted a gelato and champagne tasting for the ladies, while the men enjoyed a cabernet franc tasting.
At the heart of the event was a commitment to giving back. The Waterside Wine Weekend supported four beneficiaries: Revive Knysna, the NSRI, Knysna Educational Trust (Ket) and Thando House. Each organisation plays a valuable role in supporting people and strengthening the wider community.
As the main sponsor, Pam Golding Properties Knysna, under the leadership of principal Gordon Schutte, is proud to support initiatives that bring people together around a shared purpose.
We believe being part of a community means more than doing business in the area; it means investing in the people, organisations and causes that help make it a better place to live.
The Waterside Wine Weekend has laid the foundation for what promises to become an annual highlight on the local calendar. Its success demonstrates what can be achieved when local businesses, wine farms and the community come together with a common goal.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Ilse van Staden, Gordon Schutte, the participating wine farms, sponsors, organisers, and everyone who attended and supported the event.
Together, we make a difference.
