A highlight for the team was when the fighting division for 11-year-old boys was completely dominated by their team mates, with Logan Tait taking bronze, Luka Nolan getting silver and Johan Potgieter scoring the gold.
Bryce Butterworth performed in fine style, showing both grace and fighting spirit, and claiming the gold in both kata and points fighting.
Another student who impressed was Stepahnie Linder who, depite never having before competed at an event this big, earned the gold medal in the female kata division.
Somebody to watch out for at future championships is CG van Aardt, who competed in a very big division and manged to get gold in iri kumi (free fighting), kumite (points fighting) and kata (traditional patterns), making his two instructors, Sensei Wessel and Sensei Elrie very proud indeed.
