KNYSNA NEWS AND GALLERY - The penultimate part in our short series of articles and galleries looking back on the 2022 Simola Hillclimb takes us to the first day of King of the Hill for the weekend, Saturday 6 May.
The weather looked set to have a large impact on the weekend when heavy rains poured over Knysna on Friday night and light rain continued to fall on Saturday morning.
The line-up of 84 cars that took part in the King of the Hill competition arrived to the track on Saturday morning to find a wet track only getting wetter.

This created some interesting conditions for the morning practice sessions on Saturday, as some drivers tested out the conditions in their slick tyres while others stuck to their wet-weather compound tyres.
But in true Knysna fashion, as the day drew on, the weather cleared up and come the afternoon conditions were dry enough to see some great action up the hill.
The fastest time of the day belonged to eventual winner of the Single Seater and Sports Cars Top 10 Shootout, André Bezuidenhout, who posted a time of 37,466 seconds in Practice 4.
The final article in our series dedicated to the 2022 Simola Hillclimb will be the full breakdown of the event which will appear in tomorrow's edition of Knysna-Plett Herald. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
