PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - English polo performance coach Winston Squire hopes his working visit to Plettenberg Bay will be a catalyst for the local polo fraternity to follow international trends in the sport.
Speaking at the Kurland Polo Classic held on Sunday 23 February, he referred to “the great reception" he had been given in Plett and the beauty of the place, which he said was an eye-opener.
'Warm down'
As performance coach for the high goal and medium goal English polo teams he attends to the fitness of the players to prevent injury.
This involves “warm down” procedures for polo team members after games.
His host in Plett was world-renowned polo coach John Horswell, and Squire says he hopes to return to Plett to educate the polo fraternity to train before tournaments and "train down" after games.
“It’s been a lovely week and great experience meeting new people. I hope to come back again,” says Squire.
