KNYSNA NEWS - More than 300 players, coaches and team officials converged on the Hornlee Sports Ground from 9 to 11 July for the annual Knysna Oyster Festival Netball Tournament.
The teams competed across six divisions in a packed three-day programme. The tournament catered for players from as young as nine through to senior and men's teams, showcasing talent across the little mini (9-11 years), mini junior (11-13 years), junior (14-17 years), senior open and men's open divisions.
Altogether 66 matches were played during the tournament.
The proceedings got under way on Thursday with the little mini and mini junior divisions. Five little mini teams contested 14 matches, while six mini junior teams played 19 matches.
Friday's action featured the junior division, in which five teams played 14 games, as well as the men's competition, which continued into Saturday. Three men's teams contested three matches in total.
The tournament concluded on Saturday with the senior open division, in which eight teams battled it out across 16 matches.
This annual tournament formed part of the wider Knysna Oyster Festival's sporting programme and provided a platform for players of all ages to compete while promoting community participation in netball.
