KNYSNA GOLF NEWS - For the third year in a row, Families SA (Famsa) Knysna brought players together at Simola Golf and Country Estate for its annual fundraiser golf day, taking place on 14 and 21 August this year.
Typically, the golf day takes place in June, but this year it was postponed to a later date due to the Covid-19 pandemic and consequent restrictions.
Once lockdown measures were slowly relaxed, planning and preparation began for the golf day, and it was eventually decided that it would be split between two days, 14 and 21 August, due to the regulations that are imposed on golf courses.
A decision was also taken that no prizes would be offered this year. "In light of Covid-19 and many struggling businesses and some who have closed, we did not want to approach any businesses for donations nor prizes," said Famsa Knysna director Karin du Plessis. Instead, the golf day was held "for the love of the game".

The lack of prizes did not deter just over 100 golfers from taking part over the course of the two days. Famsa tallied scores and the winners, Office Connexion, didn't mind the lack of prizes.
"It's been amazing, we received so much support from those who took part," Du Plessis said.
