KNYSNA NEWS - Sixteen soccer teams competed in a soccer tournament at Loerie Park, Knysna during the past long-weekend of May 1 to May 3.
The tournament was sponsored by Johannes Malela (Chippa), a former Knysna soccer player, now residing in Cape Town.
The tournament was played in the form of a knockout. Southern Stars B and African Eagles made it to the final, with Southern Stars B winning the final overwhelming with seven goals to two. Red Eagles took the third place on a 'soft point' when their opponents United Brothers did not pitch for the third and fourth play-off.
Red Eagles are currently in the first place on the Knynsa Local Football Association's log with 32 log points after 14 games played, ten won, two draws and two lost. With 31 points, African Roots are in the second place (14 played, nine won, four drawn, one lost).
