KNYSNA NEWS - With wildly indecisive weather conditions over the weekend, soccer teams endured hot, cold, windy and wet circumstances in the space of two days in the latest round of KLFA Domestic League fixtures.
Teams returned to the one-fixture-a-round format, as eight matches were played – four in Sedgefield and four in Hornlee.
One of the highly anticipated games of the weekend came on Sunday as third-placed Flamingo and fifth-placed Pine Stars locked horns in Hornlee on Sunday with the latter hoping to get one step closer to making it into the top four.
Things wouldn't go Pine Stars' way though, as an ill-disciplined display saw them finish the game with 10 men while Flamingo emerged 4-0 victors, to stay within seven points of first-placed Smuts United who had defeated Hot Stars 6-1 on Saturday. Second-placed Red Eagles was up next on Sunday after the Flamingo/Pine Stars clash, coming up against Young Chiefs as the rain began pelting down midway through Sunday afternoon after a morning of light rain.
Red Eagles fell behind early on but rallied back and drew level before half-time with the score 1-1 at the break. The rain only fell harder in the second half, but Red Eagles still managed to take control of the remainder of the game to secure a resounding 4-1 victory.
Other results saw FC Rebels beat Hot stars 5-3, Ocean Eleven succumb to Two For Joy 3-4, Young Boys overcome Slow Town 2-1, Crossroads defeat African Eagles 2-1, and African Roots beat CX Swallows 2-0.
