PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Murray High School U19 soccer team made their school proud when they won the regionals of the Kay Motsepe U19 Schools Cup recently held in Mossel Bay.
In their first game, Murray High defeated Percy Mdala High from Knysna 2-0. The team took their spirit and teamwork into their second game, where they knocked out hosts Hillcrest High on penalties 1(6)-1(5).
Last year's regional school winner, Jonga High School from George, did not earn enough points in their group in George, and thus failed to defend their title.
The hard-working team from Plettenberg Bay will represent the Eden Region in the Western Cape provincial finals on 23 September in Saldanha Bay in the West Coast Region.
One of the team managers, Ntokozo Dlamini, said that he is hoping for the best for their school in the provincial finals.
He believes that it's not going to be easy because all the best high schools will be competing for the top two spots.
However, the Murray High team will be ready and while he knows that the boys can turn things around, they should just go there and take it easy the results will come their way.
He said the good thing is that they get to go and enjoy the game, lift the Eden Region flag's high with pride and learn a lot.
Six regional high school winners will be battling it out for the top two in order to book their spot in the National Kay Motsepe U19 Schools Cup, which will take place later this year.
