"Exceptionally good talent and skilful play were displayed throughout the two days by all the teams that participated. The event was played in good football spirit, although supporters were only a few," said Shamley Titus, general secretary of the football association in Knysna.
The participating teams were Crossroads, FC Milano, FC United, Knysna Celtics, Plett Saints, Southern Stars United FC, Young Brothers FC as well as Young Eagles FC.
The matches kicked off at 13:00 on Saturday and all the participants enjoyed four matches on this day.
The first match was played between FC United and Knysna Celtics.
Knysna Celtics obtained a spot in the finals by beating the opponents with a score of 3 - 2. Southern Stars United played against Plett Saints in the semi-finals.
Southern Stars managed to dominate the Plett Saints with a winning score of 4 -2, securing a spot in the finals.
The finals ended on a good note for Knysna Celtics, when they out-manoeuvred Southern Stars with a convincing score of 5 - 1.
Knysna Celtics were the overall winners of matches played during a pre-season football training camp at Loerie Park. Celtics beat Southern Stars with a score of 5 - 1.
A total of eight football teams from Knysna and surrounds were involved in an pre-season football training camp at Loerie Park on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11.
