KNYSNA FOOTBALL NEWS - For the third time this season, a new team is topping the 2020/21 KLFA Domestic League charts after Flamingo took first place at the past weekend, while Voota still lead the Super League.
The weekend of 29 and 30 May marked the third round of soccer action in the Knysna Local Football Association's (KLFA) shortened 2020/21 season, with matches played in Rheenendal, Sedgefield and Hornlee.
Having kicked off on Saturday 8 May, the season will see teams play each other only once instead of the usual twice, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The condensed schedule means teams will have less room for error when it comes to relegation or the title challenge.
In the first round of the Domestic League, Ocean Eleven took the lead, to be replaced a week later by defending champions Smuts United, who were dethroned by Domestic League newcomers Young Stars in the third round.

Now, after the fourth round and halfway through the season, Flamingo are in first position, ahead of second-place Red Eagles by goal difference alone. Ocean Eleven are third, ahead of Young Stars (fourth) on goal difference.
The battle for the title is not the only one, however, as the fight to avoid relegation also rages on. The bottom two teams (15th and 16th) are automatically relegated to the Super League, and as it stands, African Roots and Hot Stars are destined to be relegated.
However, matters won't be so simple as Young Chiefs, African Eagles and United Brothers are all on four points, only two ahead of 15th-placed Hot Stars.

In the KLFA Super League, the second division that feeds into the Domestic League, things have been a bit more consistent at the top.
After the first round it was Pine Stars who led the league. In round two Voota took the lead and they have managed to remain unbeaten, holding onto first place. They are now one point ahead of Richmond City in second, with Crossroads in third place with a game in hand, and Young Brothers in fourth.

The Domestic League's highest scoring game of the weekend was between CX Swallows and Slow Town (7-1). It was also the joint biggest win of the weekend, as Flamingo beat United Brothers 6-0.
The biggest win and highest scoring match of the weekend belonged to the Super League however, as Richmond City beat JR Stars 9-1.
