Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Former Knysna Primary School learner Tristan Stubbs has been included in the playing XI for the Proteas' first T20I against India today.
The first T20I between South Africa is all set for play in Delhi, and when the two playing XIs were announced for the game a brand new name was included in the Proteas team, that of Tristan Stubbs.
By being selected for the game, Stubbs becomes cap number 95 for South Africa in T20 internationals.
He is part of a team that sees the return of Wayne Parnell to the Proteas for the first time since 2017, as well as the return of Anrich Nortje for the first time since the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.
Stubbs earned his call up to the national squad off the back of some sublime domestic form that saw him enjoy a phenomenal 2022 CSA T20 Challenge.
He was also called up to the SA A side which took on a Zimbabwe XI where the 21-year-old also impressed. This tour was cut short though when he received a call to report to the Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League where he made two appearances. He was announced as part of the squad touring India in mid-May.
