GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Knysna Cavaliers' first team earned its fourth straight win of the season last weekend, remaining unbeaten at the top of the SWD Premier League log.
Cavaliers' firsts emerged victorious against Mossel Bay on Saturday 22 January while the second team lost against Pioneers B on Sunday and the thirds beat Pirates B on Sunday too.
Plettenberg Bay Pioneers' first team lost a tight game against George with their seconds tasting success while the thirds enjoyed a weekend off.
Pirates United's first team lost their nail-biting Promotion League A clash against Mayflower, while Kranshoek Dolphins emerged victorious against St Georges in Promotion League B.
Kranshoek Dolphins vs St Georges
Played in Kranshoek on Saturday, the home side batted first. John Koopman top-scored for Dolphins with a score of 48 as his side was eventually bowled out for 226. Adrian Ambraal was St Georges' best bowler, claiming six wickets for 63 runs in 7,3 overs.
In St Georges' run chase, Lanee Pietersen out-scored the rest with 35, but they were bowled out for 183, handing Dolphins a 43-run win. Maunré Oraai was Dolphins' top bowler with three wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. The win sees Dolphins stand top of their group after three games.
Pirates United A vs Mayflower A
In the closest game of the weekend, Pirates batted first in Great Brak. In a team total of 153, Errol Martin top-scored with 47 runs before Pirates were bowled out. Rhyno Prins emerged as Mayflower's best bowler with four wickets for 26 runs in 8,2 overs.
Prins shone in the run chase too, scoring 57 as his side scraped through for a one-wicket victory. Justin Meyer and Zynn Plaatjies shared the spoils for Pirates with two wickets apiece. Pirates are however still top of their pool in Promotion League A.
Plett Pioneers A vs George A
Played in George, Pioneers were sent in to bat first. Jacques Arendse top-scored with 20 as the team was bowled out for only 73 runs. Franco Geldenhuys and Grant Simpson each claimed four wickets for George.

Jean Heunis was the top batsman for George with 33, helping them secure a three-wicket win. Marcello Piedt was Pioneers' best bowler with four wickets for 37 runs in nine overs. Pioneers are fifth in the Premier League.
Knysna Cavaliers A vs Mossel Bay A
After a delayed start Cavaliers bowled first in Mossel Bay. Tony Ferreira and Onke Nyaku each scored 21 as Mossel Bay were dismissed for 116. JP Ellis was Cavaliers' best bowler with three wickets for 32 runs in 7,2 overs.
AB van der Walt was the star of Cavaliers' run chase, scoring 64 to help them to a five-wicket win. The innings included an over from Yaseen Vallie that went for 41 runs, the most runs ever scored in a single over in SWD Cricket. Four bowlers claimed one wicket each for Mossel Bay. The win is Cavaliers' fourth and means they are top of the Premier League table.
Knysna Cavaliers B vs Plett Pioneers B
Cavaliers batted first in Plett, and Rudolph Gerber top-scored with 44 to help the team to 129 all out. Garth Bock was Pioneers' best bowler with five wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs.
Fabian Kleynhans top-scored in Pioneers' run chase with 27 as the home side earned a four-wicket victory. Blake Linder was Cavaliers' top bowler with three wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. The win sees Pioneers B go top of Pool A in the Reserve League, overtaking Cavaliers B.
Knysna Cavaliers C vs Pirates United B
The last game of the weekend was at Loerie Park, with Cavaliers batting first. Trevano Thorne was the best batsman with 53 runs while Cavaliers scored 169 all out. Justino Koopman and Edwin Lukas bagged three wickets each for Pirates.
Roderick Petersen was Pirates' top-scorer in the run chase, scoring 24, but Pirates were bowled out for 128. This gave Cavaliers a 41-run win. Thorne was the star with the ball too, claiming three wickets for 26 runs in 10 overs.
