KNYSNA NEWS - The sports grounds at Knysna High School came alive with excitement and enthusiastic support as young hockey players from 30 schools competed in Knysna Primary School's annual junior hockey tournament on Saturday 25 July.

Teams travelled from across the Western Cape and beyond, with one school making the journey all the way from Kimberley to take part.

Perfect winter sunshine and a festive atmosphere provided the ideal backdrop as hundreds of players, parents and supporters filled the venue. 

The U7 to U11 teams battled it out on several mini hockey fields laid out on the main rugby pitch, while the U13 matches were contested on the school's AstroTurf.

The attendance numbers showcased the growing popularity of junior hockey. For many visitors, it was also an opportunity to experience Knysna's hospitality.

Judging by the enthusiastic participation and overwhelming support, the tournament has firmly established itself as one of the highlights on the junior hockey calendar.

The organisers acknowledged the valuable sponsorship of Noorsveld Chicken Farms, which contributed to the success of the tournament.
