KNYSNA POLITICAL NEWS - Knysna United and the Good Party have congratulated ANC councillor Lorraine Opperman with her election as councillor of Ward 11 in yesterday’s by-election.
In separate press statements, Knysna United chair Ralph Stander and Good convener in Knysna John Pienkies Williams congratulated and wished Opperman and the ANC the best of luck.
“The ANC managed to get Cope, PBI, Icosa and Khoisan to support them in the by-elections,” said Williams. “Now it is payback time by performing. Knysna United will continue to work with Knysna Municipality Council led by Mayor Elrick van Aswegen and we will continue to make the municipality accountable.”
Stander said they are happy that the DA was shown the door by the community. “The DA has no interest in black and coloured communities, they are only using them. We are sick and tired of being used and of being experiments. It now looks like the DA experiment in the coloured community has gone wrong and the shame is on them,” he said.
Williams said the DA, “the enemy of the people”, has been defeated. “We have called on the community to open their eyes and rid themselves of the DA, we are happy the community heeded our call. The racist DA who sees us as experiments was punished and will never ever win Knysna again,” he said.
Williams called on the ANC-led municipality to serve the people of Knysna. “Hornlee has for long been the last to receive any services from the municipality, but that can no longer be tolerated,” he said.
