NATIONAL NEWS - A five-year-old Crescentridge Primary pupil was left traumatised after she was almost kidnapped at the school premises, on Thursday.
According to police reports, the grade R pupil was in the company of her father and her uncle, who was holding her hand, when an unknown man approached them and grabbed the girl.
It is alleged that the suspect continued walking towards the exit with the child before he was stopped by the girl’s father. When the suspect was questioned by the girl’s father, he stated that he wanted love.
In an interview with the Rising Sun, the father, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “My family and I spent the rest of the day trying to calm our child down. When we saw the man approach us, my brother and I both thought that he was another parent. The suspect managed to get about 20 to 30 meters away from us when we managed to get my daughter back. My only concern was her safety. We tried to distract her from the incident. As a parent, we would not want this to happen to anyone else. I believe that Crescentrige Primary is one of the best schools and that it is safe and this was just an unfortunate incident which occurred. I hope that the suspect is dealt with accordingly.”
