NATIONAL NEWS - KZN police have intercepted over R80m worth of pure cocaine hidden inside a shipping container at Durban Harbour.
According to an article published by The Witness, the drugs were concealed in a shipment of kidney beans from Brazil.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the vessel carrying the illicit cargo was tracked after stopping in another country before arriving in South Africa.
The container was closely monitored and brought to a warehouse in The Bluff area on South Coast Road for inspection.
On Saturday, officers uncovered eight bags of crushed pure cocaine.
The shipment was linked to Johannesburg as its final destination.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the operation.
