KNYSNA NEWS - Ten people were injured, one of them seriously, in an accident that took place on Karatara Road yesterday afternoon, Thursday 25 November.
According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, the injuries were sustained when a bakkie overturned on Karatara Road.
"When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at approximately 16:30, they found a bakkie lying on its roof in the middle of the road," Van Huyssteen said.
"A woman was found trapped underneath the bakkie, and Western Cape Metro Emergency Medical Service (EMS) as well as the Knysna Municipality Fire and Rescue Department managed to extricate her using the jaws of life. She was found to have sustained serious injuries." The injuries of the other nine patients ranged from minor to moderate.
"ER24, as well as Metro EMS and other medical services, treated the patients at the scene before transporting them to hospital for further medical care. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known to our paramedics," said Van Huyssteen.
