PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - While the N2 on a stretch of road in Plettenberg Bay reopened early on Tuesday morning following rioting during Monday night, authorities are still monitoring the situation.
A group of residents gathered on the national road between Kwanokuthula and the Shell garage in the coastal holiday town on Monday evening where they burnt tyres and pelted passing vehicles with rocks.
The Bitou Municipality confirmed that the protestors had been dispersed by just after 05:00 and mop-up had been completed.
“However, law enforcement agencies are monitoring the situation for possible flare ups,” the municipal communication team said on Monday morning.
It is unclear what sparked the protest at this stage.
