The final FNB Family Forest Hike took place today, wrapping up the week-long family-friendly activity.
As the day drew on more and more runners and spectators started to fill the Festival Grounds as they collected race packs and bits and pieces for the Momentum Knysna Forest Marathon and Half Marathon to take place tomorrow, Saturday July 15. There was plenty on offer at the Expo and guests made themselves comfortable at the venue and settled in for an afternoon of socialising to ease the pre-race jitters.
Over at the Pezula Championship Golf Course the Europcar Knysna Classic was in full swing as happy four-balls made their way around the course; all in aid of charity. All funds raised today are going to Hospice Knysna.
Knysna Secondary School is the place to be from 20:00 tonight for the Hornlee Festival Reggae Night, come and enjoy some local reggae talent from the biggest Rastafari Community in South Africa. Entrance is R30.
The big day is just more sleep away! The Momentum Knysna Forest Marathon, known as one of South Africa’s most sought-after running events, offers exceptional highlights found in no other race anywhere in the world – particularly the scenery as most of the run takes place deep in the forest. Maybe you didn’t have the chance to train this year, or maybe the thought of taking on a full 21km race is just too daunting, either way you can still be a part of the action by joining in the Knysna Marathon Club Fun Run taking place at the Festival Pavilion.
08:00 Imperial Auto Golf Pro-Am
If you aren’t running tomorrow then grab your clubs and head over to the Pezula Championship Golf Course for the Imperial Auto Golf Pro-Am. R450 per person, includes a cart.
09:00 – 17:00 Knysna Waterfront Canoe Polo
Canoe Polo combines canoeing and ball handling skills with an exciting contact team game, where tactics and positional play are as important as the speed and fitness of the individual athletes. Teams of 5 players in each team taking part in round robin competition.
09:00 Osyter rapid Chess Tournament
A 6-round Swiss event where each player gets 25 minutes to complete the game. The idea is to develop chess in this area and to have fun. Knysna Primary School Hall will host this tournament.
20:00 Hornlee Oyster presents House of Entertainment Band Live
Finish off your day with the House of Entertainment Band, live at the Hornlee Oyster Festival at Knysna Secondary School Hall, tickets cost R50 per person.
The Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival presented by Humpty Dumpty has a variety of activities to keep the kiddies entertained for the duration of the Festival and are situated in the festival grounds.
