KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna-born artist Rosie Mudge will this week be one of the artists showcasing their works at the 10th annual Investec Cape Town Art Fair.
The fair reaches a major milestone this year, marking a decade of connecting artists with galleries and collectors, while showcasing fresh ideas and masterpieces in the making.
Produced by Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa, the Art Fair is returning to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 17 to 19 February.
The 10th edition will see 135 new artists participating, and with over 23 000 visitors - as well as 6 000 VIPs - expected, it is the largest fair of its kind in Africa.
It offers a platform for collectors, galleries, curators, artists and art journalists from around the globe to create connections at the forefront of contemporary art.
For Rosie Mudge, it will be her fourth Cape Town Art Fair appearance. Born in 1988, Mudge currently lives and works in Cape Town. She obtained her BA FA with distinction from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town in 2013.
In 2022 Mudge presented TALKING BACK, her third solo show, at SMAC Gallery in Cape Town.
Further solo exhibitions include In my room with Mazzy Star, (SMITH Studio, Cape Town, 2018); From My Balcony to Yours, (SMITH Studio, Cape Town, 2020); as well as a solo presentation as part of the Artist Room Series titled Long Shadows (SMAC Gallery, Stellenbosch, 2020).
Mudge has participated in numerous group exhibitions and presentations, including Soft/Loud, a group exhibition curated by Eliana Blechman at the Travellers Towers Gallery, Michigan, USA; Smalls, at Otomys Gallery in Melbourne, Australia; and The Absolutely Fabulous Spring Show, at Everard Read in Johannesburg (all in 2021); Home is where the art is, at Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town, in 2020; and FNB Art Joburg, in Johannesburg, in 2019, 2018 and 2017, all with SMITH Studio; as well as an international group exhibition and residency at The Third Dot in Mauritius in 2019.
Mudge has also co-founded two transient project spaces, Cubicle and Jnr, in Cape Town.
