LEISURE ISLE NEWS - Nearly 250 children took part in the annual Leisure Isle Park Hunt on Saturday, 4 April, exploring the island’s parks through a fun treasure-hunt adventure.
Thanks to local residents, children from Nekkies and Hornlee could join in free of charge.
The 2km route started at More multifaceted shop and wound through Church Square, The Grove, Bowden Park, and Kensington Gardens, ending at the Seed Pod in Steenbok Park. At each stop, kids completed activities and collected chocolate eggs, with volunteers and Knysna Montessori students ensuring everyone stayed safe.
Organiser Danella Dolan said the aim was more than just Easter treats. "It’s about introducing children to the parks, connecting with nature, and enjoying a safe, fun day outside," she said.
Proceeds from the event, which covered essential costs, will benefit Steenbok Nature Reserve and the 40 residents of Vermont Old Age Home.
Dolan added: "We’ve raised over R7 000 this year, keeping the benefit right here in Knysna, for Knysna."
