KNYSNA NEWS - Box Battles SA, a fitness initiative striving to interact with communities throughout South Africa, held its debut live teams event during the Knysna Oyster Festival.
The event, held at the Knysna High School sport ground, brought together many Crossfit-based fitness centres from all over the Garden Route.
Monique Larsen, the co-founder of Box Battles SA, said:
"We even had teams from the Eastern Cape and Western Cape to participate. Our aim was to run an all-inclusive, South Africa-inspired event based on our 'Big 5' categories - allowing pre-teen, teen, rookie and seasoned competitors to take part in five challenging workouts correlating with the behaviour and mannerisms of rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard.
"'Team spirit and camaraderie' was the theme for the day, and athletes brought their all. The participants experienced a successful, fun-filled day," she said.
