These simple water-saving tips can help you save water:
• Fix leaking taps immediately as a dripping tap wastes up to 76 litres of water. A bucket can be placed under the tap until it is fixed. The collected water can be used for other purposes.
• Residents are encouraged to replace all taps, showerheads and other plumbing components with water efficient parts or technologies.
• Use a bucket to collect water from the shower while you’re waiting for the water to warm up.
• Re-use water. Grey water, which is water used for other household purposes, can be re-used for a number of purposes such as watering the garden.
• Closing the tap when you are brushing your teeth can save up to six litres of water per minute.
• Do not flush the toilet unnecessarily as the toilet uses about six litres of water every time you flush.
