KNYSNA NEWS - The ladies' section of the Knysna Golf Club recently hosted a successful fundraising event in aid of the local community organisation Changes of Knysna, well known for its outreach work in the area.
According to Changes of Knysna spokesperson Charmaine Sinclair, the funds raised have provided a significant boost to the organisation's soup kitchens, as well as its monthly 'pamper' initiatives for pensioners and persons with disabilities.
"We receive a donation from Freedom Church Knysna every second week, but we cannot do everything on our own. We are therefore more than grateful to the ladies of the Knysna Golf Club," Sinclair said.
Thanks to the fundraiser, the organisation was able to purchase a range of essential items, including a large freezer, stock for its soup kitchens, buckets, bowls, a gazebo and a gas burner.
The funds have also supported initiatives beyond basic needs. Changes of Knysna assisted a school learner with her karate career, donated wool to its pensioners' club and distributed food parcels to vulnerable families in the community.
In addition, new T-shirts were purchased for the organisation's monthly outreach programmes, while preparations are already under way for its annual Christmas project for elderly residents and children in need.
"We were able to do a lot, and there are still plans to acquire additional equipment such as cooking pots," Sinclair said.
The organisation extended its gratitude to Freedom Church Knysna, Knysna Lions and 34 South for their ongoing support, as well as to the ladies of the Knysna Golf Club for their generous contribution which continues to make a meaningful difference in the community.
