KNYSNA NEWS - In its latest CSI project, Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre lent a helping hand to two soup kitchens in the Hornlee community - Tina's Soup Kitchen and Engela's Soup Kitchen.
At the handover to both soup kitchens on 30 June, they received a hamper with a variety of vegetables and foodstuffs as part of the donation.
Tina's Soup Kitchen was founded five years ago by Tina Nel and four other women at the clinic where she worked. When Covid-19 hit, she started prepping the food and doing handovers from her home in Hornlee.

She provides the surrounding community with food three times a week - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. She feeds between 100 and 120 people per day. She is sponsored by Masithandane.
This is a Christian-based non-profit organisation and public benefit organisation located in Sedgefield that, in turn, receive donations from the municipality.

Engela's Soup Kitchen was founded by Engela Gesels in 2019. She provides food to approximately 85 adults and 156 children.
Initially, she had enough sponsors to make food for the surrounding community for three days a week. Unfortunately, she now has fewer sponsors and can only provide food once a week, on Thursdays.
