PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The body of a 19-year-old woman was found today, allegedly with head wounds, at the sports stadium opposite Murray High School in Kwanokuthula.
SAPS forensic investigators were on the scene and circumstances surrounding the death of the woman is under investigation, said SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies.
Spies said reports available suggest that police were alerted to a body in an open field near Murray High School on Sunday, 27 April at about 10:30am.
“Upon arrival the members found the body with head injuries. Crime scene experts combed the scene for clues and all leads are being followed up.
“A post-mortem to determine the cause of death will be conducted later in the week.
“The identity of the deceased is yet to be established,” said Spies.
Bitou Ward 6 councillor Nokuthula Teenage Seti said a crowd had gathered close to the stadium, but police did not allow anyone near the scene.
Seti said the fact that it happened on Freedom Day sent out a wrong message.
The investigating officer, Sergeant Mphumezi Mlenze, urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist police with this investigation.
Anyone with information may contact the Kwanokuthula Detectives at 044 533 2145 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
