KNYSNA NEWS - A 77-strong Eden Biathlon team delivered a solid performance at the Eastern Province Interprovincial event last Saturday, despite the absence of several top athletes.
In the process, Eden secured an impressive 15 medals, which included nine gold medals, giving the enthusiastic parents and supporters much to cheer about.
Knysna Primary was crowned Best Performing Primary School, taking home a prize of R5 000.
Among the standout performances were Tiaan Terblanche and Simeon Bezuidenhout (U8 boys), Bea Kitching (U8 girls), Liam de Wet and JW Viljoen (U9 boys) and De Wet Venter (U11 boys), who also claimed the title of fastest 400m runner of the day.
Hallett Swanepoel and Leah Hopper of Knysna Primary each earned gold in the U15 events, while Marsel Roos (Nomads, Knysna) and Attie Viljoen (Nomads, Hartenbos) dominated the Masters 40+ men’s division.
In the team competition, Eastern Province claimed top honours, followed by Eden in second place, Border in third and South Free State fourth.
This was the final biathlon event of the pre-season. The next meeting is set for 20 January 2026.
