KNYSNA NEWS - On Wednesday 27 September, a World Tourism Day event at Knysna Hollow in South Africa was presented by Visit Knysna, CapeNature, Garden Route National Parks, Knysna Municipality and the Knysna Basin Project.
The event aimed to highlight the value of eco-tourism in Knysna, a town known for its stunning landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and rich biodiversity.
The event featured speakers from various sectors, including Pam Booth, the manager of environmental development for Knysna Municipality; Jene Contador, a SANParks ranger, Dr Rabiah Ryklief, Jessica Seath of the Knysna Basin Project, and Thulani Ndlovu, conservation manager at Goukamma National Park.
They shared their expertise and experiences on sustainable travel, the positive impact it can have on local communities, and the importance of biodiversity conservation.
Participants were given the opportunity to explore the Knysna Hollow Estate gardens, witnessing the beauty of the natural surroundings and learning about indigenous plant species.
The objective of this was to instill environmental responsibility and nurture a generation of eco-conscious travellers.
