KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - Women’s Day 2017 celebrations at the Knysna Primary School hall are off to a great start today, with much more entertainment to come throughout the day.
Master of ceremony for the event, or is that mistress or madam, is the well-known character Moena of kykNET’s Suidooster fame played by Jill Levendal. She kicked off proceedings with a short and sweet motivational speech, which was followed by a brief speech by Knysna’s own executive mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies encouraging women to stand together.
Entertainment was soon to follow with four girls from Knysna’s own Redefined 101, a music and drama group based in Hornlee.
The girls belted out a musical number to great appreciation and applause from the many women, and a handful of men, in the audience.
Still to follow today is some more drama from Redefined 101, music in the form of an opera performance, poetry, dance, more drama and some more music.
Celebrations end at 16:00, so get there soon or miss out.
