Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Water supply to the Heads area in Knysna has been fully restored, according to Knysna Heads Association chair Chris Gould, after residents battled without water since Wednesday 11 October, he said.
Gould said most homes had access to water again by late Saturday afternoon, and that the rest had water supply restored by late Sunday afternoon.
The area where the pipe breakage occurred, he said, was the intersection of Emu Crescent and Eagle Way.
During the Knysna-Plett Herald’s visit to the site on 16 October, much of the site was still dug up.
Gould agreed with Ward 9 councillor Mark Willemse’s statement – which he gave to the Knysna-Plett Herald on Saturday afternoon 14 October – that the contractor appointed to complete the upgrade to replace the old water reticulation system, caused a fault in the system which resulted in the loss of water supply to certain areas.
Comment has been requested from the municipality.
