Update

KNYSNA NEWS - The fire is moving through Karatara, in the Kraaibosh area above Rheenendal.  Three structures have burned down.  

Rheenendal FMU’s (Fire Management Units) have been activated.  Residents are being evacuated to the Karatara Community Hall. Over 200 people currently in the hall. 

Incident Command is being set-up at the Karatara Fire Station.  A reconnaissance flight are being undertaken to determine the priority use of resources.

In addition, lightning fires have been reported at Opsoek, in the Kannaland area as well as Jonkersberg Mountain, to the north of Mossel Bay.

The extent of these fires is currently being determined.

Garcia Pass, between Riversdale and Ladismith:
Fire cause by lightning.  The extend of fire will also be determined as part of the reconnaissance flight.
