KNYSNA NEWS - According to a statement from the Knysna Municipality, winds have picked up in the Karatara area outside Knysna and the fire is currently moving towards Bosdorp and parts of Karatara.
"An emergency team is currently evacuating Bosdorp residents," the statement read.
Mayor Mark Willemse urged residents to stay away from the area: "To all the residents of Knysna, we know it's very scary outside at the moment with smoke plumes pouring through Knysna.
"At the moment the fire is in Karatara where we are busy evacuating Bosdorp and Karatara.
"No further threats exist," he said, adding that the situation is being closely monitored.
