Borcherds established Women with Passion (WWP) to take on the task of helping local battered and traumatised women. She says the group's numbers grew rapidly and within weeks they also established a WWP group in Humansdorp. It was during a gathering of the two groups in Humansdorp from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7 that they experienced the touch of an angel.
The chairperson of the Knysna WWF group, Juanita Jansen, told the Knysna-Plett Herald that they could feel the presence of an angel while the women individually shared their life stories. "When we looked at the photos taken of the event, we realised that the angel was really there. On several photos you could see a figure behind us, but it was on the photo taken of Firosa Plaatjies that we saw that our work is an angel's grace to women in need."
The photographer Appolis Barends said he could not believe his eyes when he saw the angel on the end product. "There was nothing and nobody on the left of the picture when I took the photo."
