The awards ceremony was held at the annual year end braai at Ubuntu Lodge.
Dylan Reichgelt received the Tom Ferreira All Round Karate Trophy of 2010 for his excellent performance in both traditional and competitive karate.
Reichgelt represented South Africa at the 2010 WGKF World Karate Championships in Portugal, and attained high marks at his brown belt grading. He is also an assistant instructor who helps teach and motivate the younger students to reach their goals.
Anuschka Zaayman received the Boshoff Dumas Sport Karate Trophy of 2010 for her fine performance in both national and international championships.
Zaayman attained silver medals at the Western Cape Kumite Championships, the National Kumite championships and the prestigious Champ of the Champs, as well as a bronze medal at the WGKF World championships in Portugal.
Nikita Roelofse received the Willem van Heerden Most Improved Student award of 2010.
Roelofse showed great improvement in traditional karate by attaining her brown belt, and blossomed on the sport karate field by representing the Western Cape at both the national karate championships and the Champ of the Champs.
Callam Tait received the Jason Kruger Rising Star award for 2010.
Tait showed great potential at a very young age during local and national championships and by attaining his brown belt with flying colours.
Johnny Stander received the Hanlie Malan Loyalty award for 2010. Stander is a dedicated brown belt karateka and received the award for this dedication as well as for his contributions towards the upliftment of the local karate school.
Jurgen Graupe received the True Budo Spirit award for 2010. This is a very special trophy awarded by the head instructor of the Dojo to a student who embodies the true meaning of the word Warrior. The award goes to a student who has found the balance between a gentle and humble soul, a clear and sharp mind, and a strong and conditioned body.
Trophies are all named after local karate instructors and students who have passed away, but have left an everlasting impression on, and contribution to the local karate community.
